Orbital HD

Often it's great to have tons of options in a game. But on the other hand, sometimes a single well-designed game mechanic works best. Orbital HD definitely falls into the second category. This addictive game combines old-school line graphics with a simple pinball-style mechanic and a hypnotic music track. One basic action - shoot orbitals into the grid - is all you need here. The orbital expands until it reaches a wall (or another orbital), then hit it three more times to get it off the grid without allowing any orbital to cross the boundary line. Trajectory, gravity and rebound distance are the main factors at play. The ability to turn off gravity offers some interesting variety, though, as does the well-designed local two-player mode. For $2.99, Orbital HD is a beautiful game that will have you wondering where the last two hours went!
